The famous Dutch company Bugaboo released this summer the new stroller – Ant. The newest light and compact travel stroller. Earlier the smallest stroller in Bugaboo family was Bee and now it’s Ant. The Bee is around 19.6lbs and the Ant is 15,8lbs. In this review we will see the all pros and cons.
The Bugaboo Ant actually fits in the overhead compartment of an airplane.
So what’s included:
- Stroller chassis and wheels
- Seat hardware
- Canopy wires and clamps
- Seat fabric and headrest fabric
- Sun canopy
- Wheel caps
- Side panels
Let’s see the features:
The Bugaboo Ant has adjustable and reversible seat, facing world and parent. I’d like to say that the reversible seat for such type of strollers is rarity. There are 2 position(seated and relaxed) – facing world and 3 positions (seated, relax, flat) – facing parent .
There is also height adjustable seat for the taller kids. So you can make seat more compact for the small baby and bigger for the toddlers.
The Bugaboo Ant has no adjustable footrest, so as for me it’s not comfortable for a small baby during napping time.
I’d like to say that the UPF 50+ canopy is quite large for such type of buggies. And also it’s extendable.
There is a peekaboo window in this stroller. So this will allow air to circulate better on summer days.
The Ant has an adjustable 5-point harness with a center release button, like and other strollers. But there is no bumper bar. Honestly to say, I like bumper bars because it’s more comfortable for the kid and also you can hang there some toys.
The handle bar is high-adjustable and can be raised from 37.4″ up to 40.9″. So all parents will be able to adjust by their height. It also has a parent wrist strap.
Accessible baskets up to 17.6 lbs: under seat basket up to 6.61 lbs and rear luggage basket up to 11.02lbs. This basket is completely accessible. There is a little separation inside, you can flip it up so that the items you use on the plane don’t mix with other side of the basket.
A foot brake is located just right in the center and it’s not flip-flop friendly. Anyway it looks very stylish and it’s really easy to use.
The Ant has all-wheels suspension built into the frame. The wheels width 5” in the front and 5” wheels in the back. The wheels are made from high quality material.
The folding system is quite easy, you need to fold the canopy inwards, then push the backrest down. It’s not hard. The next step is to fold it down and pull down the white buttons until you can see the red indicator. That’s all it’s ready to roll, if you need more compact variant you press the button on the handle bar, push it down and it’s done. It goes in the overhead compartment of the air plain and of course you can put it in all car trunks, even very small.
Travel system option
The coolest thing in the Ant – you can use it from the birth of your baby, and also you can transform it into the travel system by adding adapters(sold separately). It’s compatible with:
- Nuna PIPA Lite and PIPA Lite LX (not compatible with Nuna PIPA or Bugaboo Turtle by Nuna due to width)
- Clek Liing
- Dimensions and weight
- Recommended from birth to 50 lb
- Folded 21.6″ x 14.9″ x 9.1″
- Backrest height: 15″ to 22″
- Handlebar height: 37.4″ to 40.9″
- Seat depth: 9.4″
- Weight: 15.8 lb.

The Bugaboo ANT is available in 2 base colors (black color cost $50 more):
Aluminum / Black
Black / Neon red-Black / Steel Blue / Grey Melange / Pink Melange – Grey Melange
The Bugaboo Ant is the newest stroller from the Bugaboo company. It’s tiny and I think it’s very good variant for the parents who is traveling a lot. But there are some pros I really don’t like. Many parents complains about the folding system, it makes trouble all the time and you neede too much steps for folding/unfolding the stroller. I hope Bugaboo will improve this system. Also the weight capacity is up to 50 pounds but the height capacity is an average, so some 3 years kids are not able to stay comfortable in it, because of small size of backrest. One more disadvantage, the wheels of the stroller are rather small and it’s hard to push the stroller with todller in it. So I would recommend the Ant for the babies and toddlers till 2-3 years. From other side the buggie is very stylish and made from high-quality materials.
