Baby Jogger City Select 2019
Baby Jogger City Select 2019 is updated version of Baby Jogger City Select that has already been 8 years on the market. This model is one of the most popular strollers of the average consumer segment on the market for the last years, because of it’s ability to convert into a double stroller.
Significant upgrades in 2019 models:
- new more premium fabric
- new colors all with a silver frame.
The Baby Jogger City Select 2019 weighs 29,54 lbs and designed for babies from 6 months and up to 45 lbs, but you can purchase a bassinet and you will receive pram.
Let’s see the features:
The seat is reversible so your child can face you or the world. And also rather roomy, it is 12″ wide and 21″ high from the back of the seat to the top of the canopy. If that’s not high enough, you can adjust the canopy for another 3”. The maximum height 24 inches, so even a tall child has enough room to sit comfortably.
The seat is made of a single molded piece, so it will retain the “V”- shape when reclined. The seat has one-hand lever recline, it doesn’t have completely flat position. So that is the reason why you cannot use it for the newborn. if you need you can purchase the bassinet or car seat with the adapters.
The City Select has adjustable 4-position legrest. You just need to push two little bottoms on both sides of the footrest and choose the right one for your kid. There is also a medium-size storage pocket on the back of the seat, you can store there keys, bottle, wallet, and so on.
The canopy has three sections and is quite large. The peekaboo window is located in the middle part and it has magnetic closure, so you will not wake your sleeping baby and it’s great.
The City select has 5-point harness with a center release button, of course, they are adjustable and padded, nothing new for modern stroller. But in 2019 Baby Jogger made leatherette accent that as I think looks very stylish and also very useful since it’s easy to wipe.
The City Select has telescopic handle bar that extendes from 38.5” till 41” from the ground. You can adjust it by pressing a button in the middle of the handle and pulling it out. The telescopic handle bar suits for shorter and especially taller parents who might need more leg room.
Bamper bar is included. It’s swing-away, removable and fabric covered, actually I prefer leatherette bamper bars because I think it’s more hygienically, you can wipe it fast and it’s not being wet for long time.
The basket is huge, and you can easily access it from all sides, including the front. It has two zippers on both sides in the back of the basket and of course you can put there something big like diaper bag or even small balance bike for kid.
The brake is hand-operated and located on the right side of the handlebar. You just need pull up and then flip down. Very easy to use and it doesn’t scratch your shoes.
The City Select has an easy fold system. The folding mechanism is located on the both sides of the frame. You just need to pull up on the fold handle and stroller will be folded automatically, but you have to fix manual lock on the side to lock it into place. You need to use both hands for folding and one more cons – it doesn’t stand on its own once folded. To make stroller more compact, you should take off the seat or both seats other way it will take a lot of room and probably will take the whole trunk.
Travel system option
You can convert City Select into a travel system by replacing the seat with an infant car seat. But you will need to purchase car seat adaptersbecause they are not included.
The City Select is compatible with:
- Baby Jogger City GO
- Britax B-Safe, B-Safe 35, B-Safe 35 Elite and BOB B-Safe
- Chicco KeyFit & Keyfit30
- Cybex Aton, Aton 3S and Aton Q
- Graco SnugRide Click Connect 30, 35, 35 LX and 40
- Maxi-Cosi Mico Max 30, Mico AP, Pebble, Cabrio Fix and Pebble Plus
- Nuna PIPA, PIPA Lite and PIPA Lite LX
- Peg-Perego Primo Viaggio 4-35 and Primo Viaggio 4-35 Nido
If you decided to have the City Select for your newborn baby probably you will purchase a bassinet. The bassinet designed for a baby from birth and up to 20 lbs. This carrycot offers your newborn a soft and comfortable spot, a large vented sun canopy with a UV 50+ rating, a pop out sun visor and foot apron will protect baby from the wind, sun and cold weathre. There is also mesh window for additional air ventilation in hot weather. So the new bassinet looks very pretty and more chic then the privious one.
Second mode option
The City Select can be easily converted into a double stroller by attaching adapters and second seat(sold separately) at the bottom of the frame. There are 16 different seat combinations to fit your children needs.
As you can see there are a lot of options for kid’s – they can facing each other, or look opposite ways, you can use two cars seats or bassinets, or mix bassinet, carseat and seat.
The only thing I don’t like that if you need to use seat mode and the bassinet, the seat will be up and the bassinet will be down the bottom. So for me it’s the problem, because I want to see my newborn baby and want him/her be closer to me and the toddler ( elder child) want facing the world. Other combinations are also not so perfect and will depend from the age of your children, whether they will sleep on the walk or not and so on. But anyway you will find the right one for your kids.

You know I like that Baby Jogger decided to update the City Select. They didn’t change a lot, only new fabric and colors, but this makes stroller more chic and stylish. The stroller is more then 8 years on the market and I think it’s time to make changes and make it more fashionable.
The pros of City Select: a roomy reversible seat, a good-sized canopy, a huge basket, possibility to attach second seat- a lot for such price. The cons – the weight of this stroller is 28 lbs and with the second seat – it weighs 34 pounds. It’s really a lot and don’t forget to add weight of you kid/kids. Of cours, this makes the stroller more stable, but I would’nt purchase it for only one kid if I’m not going to have one more in the nearest time. Also I don’t like that there is no automatic lock so you waste your time for doing it manually. Moms know that sometimes you want to fold it as fast as possibe to avoid cranky mood of the kid. So I hope that the next updates will be soon and Baby Jogger will exclude this cons.
